Eileen Maclean

Eileen Maclean

Eileen is a licensed insolvency practitioner with over 25 years’ experience of all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency.

Since 1999 Eileen has been providing bespoke support services to the insolvency and business community, including back office and technical support, compliance reviews and extensive training programmes. She is recognised for her thought leadership in the profession, and for spotting any opportunity that change presents.

Eileen specialises in complex issues and dispute resolution, where she combines detailed knowledge of the law with a pragmatic approach to get proven results. She excels in compliance and in the words of a peer, “what she doesn’t know about insolvency isn’t worth knowing”.

Eileen represented Scotland on R3’s National Council for six years. She continues to provide valuable input into government consultations and SIPs as a member of the R3 Scottish Technical Committee and her expertise is regularly called upon to provide technical solutions to Insolvency Practitioners.

In what little spare time she has, Eileen likes to dream about foreign holidays and joining the Great British Bake Off. She is also a renowned reverse parallel parker.

Christine Convy

Christine Convy

MIPA MABRP, Director

Christine is a chartered accountant and insolvency practitioner with over 25 years in business services and insolvency.

Having taken personal and corporate appointments as a licensed insolvency practitioner since 1995, Christine has experience of a wide range of business sectors and different appointment types. She is renowned for her practical and commercial approach to business, having run her own businesses since the early 1990s. She has considerable expertise in restructuring and turnaround. An instinctive business woman, fellow company owners value Christine’s views and expertise and she provides mentoring support to other business owners. Christine participates in the cost-effective design and implementation of process-driven solutions improving business efficiencies and performance. She is passionate about business with a solution driven approach.

She is regularly requested for guidance on financial problems for businesses and individuals assisting various stakeholders determining action plans and strategies. She provides professional opinion on reports, company valuations, and estimated outcomes in a variety of business situations, including dispute resolutions, marital disputes, shareholder disputes and creditor negotiations.

Christine unwinds by spending quality time with her family and friends and enjoying the outdoors. She dabbles in property improvements, her favourite magazine is “Housebuilding and Renovating” and she will happily don the overalls and knee pads herself in project works!

 Jenn Stewart

Jenn Stewart

Jenn is a qualified insolvency practitioner with over 14 years’ experience advising SMEs and individuals experiencing financial difficulties. She deals with all insolvency procedures but specialises in personal insolvency and solvent solutions. She tailors pragmatic solutions to practical problems and delivers those in a cost effective and timeous manner.

Jenn’s practical experience underpins her training courses, where she blends the technical with the practical, insolvency with non-formal restructuring solutions, and systemisation of practice procedures with on-the-job training.

When she is not in the office, Jenn is on the farm. As an active member of the Scottish farming community, she can turn her hand to all things agricultural.

Julie Tait

Julie is an Insolvency Practitioner with over 16 years’ of experience in the insolvency industry. Originally from Dublin, after receiving an honours degree from Trinity College Dublin, Julie moved to Edinburgh.

Julie has extensive experience in all areas of the insolvency industry including: providing advice to directors in distressed business situations; advice to employees and creditors of insolvent companies and dealing with individuals who require a personal debt solution. Julie can also assist business owners seeking to maximise their capital return by way of members voluntary liquidation.

When not in the office, Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends and has been a keen swimmer from an early age.

Alison Curry

Alison Curry

LLB Hons, MIPA, Director

A specialist in insolvency law and regulation in England and Wales, Alison has a proven track record of regulatory drafting, innovation, project management and implementation of organisational change. She is an accomplished trainer and public speaker, confident in effective information sharing to improve the understanding of others.

Alison read law at the London School of Economics, then studied to be a solicitor, prior to diverting into the insolvency profession in 1996. She is a licensed insolvency practitioner from a small practice background, specialising in bankruptcy investigations, bespoke IVA and CVA drafting and SME restructuring. Formerly a partner in a small practice, she joined the Insolvency Practitioners Association in 2010, where she became Head of Regulatory Standards & Support in 2012.

Alison’s leisure time is devoted to family life and performing on the local music circuit. She enjoys keeping chickens and makes a very respectable apple wine.

Jill Glen

Associate Director

Jill is an experienced insolvency professional, having worked in the industry for 21 years, and has been JIE qualified since 2013. Jill specialises in personal insolvency (Sequestration, DAS and Protected Trust Deeds) and provides debt advice to individuals. Jill also specialises in the implementation of processes to streamline workloads and improve efficiencies. She supports the ISS team in decision making in complex case administration, supervising trading cases and asset realisations.

In her spare time, Jill enjoys cycling, walking her dog and traveling abroad.

William Cullen

William Cullen

BA (Hons) CA, Manager

William graduated top in his class from Napier University with a BA (Hons) and is a qualified CA. On a day to day basis as a Manager, William deals directly with debtors, completing statutory forms and ensuring the general progression of cases from the very beginning through to closure. William is also responsible for dealing with complex trading cases and assists junior members of staff with on-the-job training.

In his spare time William likes to play football and doing any sort of fitness challenge. He thrives on competing on running or obstacle courses including Tough Mudder, Deerstalker and Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest.

Steven Wood

Senior Manager

Steven joined ISS in September 2016 having previously worked in the insolvency departments of two mid-size firms since 2004. Prior to that he worked for the Accountant in Bankruptcy for six years and consequently has a broad mix of both public and private sector experience. Steven has dealt with a range of formal insolvency and other assignments across a wide range of sectors covering both corporate and personal insolvency and restructuring. He enjoys the challenge of a technical query and the compliance side of ISS’s work.

Steven is CPI and JIE qualified. When he gets a chance, Steven is an avid reader, and a fan of all things Apple.

Gayle Meldrum

Supervisor

Gayle graduated from Caledonian University with a BA in Accounts. Gayle has over 11 years of experience in personal insolvency. On a day to day basis, she deals with the progression of cases, the realisation of assets and corresponds directly with debtors and creditors.

When Gayle is not in the office, she likes to socialise with friends and family, watch boxsets and occasionally attend the gym. She also loves her cat, Clyde. Unusually for the ISS team, she does not own a dog.

Martin McGrellis

Martin McGrellis

Supervisor

Martin has over five years’ experience in insolvency and obtained his Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 2016. He has experience in managing both personal and corporate cases, dealing with case statutory matters, asset realisations and dealing with clients directly.

Outside of work he has a young family and spends time with them. He is an avid golfer and in the summer, it’s not uncommon to see him playing three rounds of golf per week, much to the delight of his partner.

Graeme Rae

Graeme has seven years’ experience of working in insolvency, having started his career at a major high street bank. He is CPPI qualified in personal insolvency but has experience of both personal and corporate cases.

In his spare time, when not ferrying his two daughters around, Graeme is a keen runner. He regularly runs 10Ks and half marathons and is looking at completing a full marathon in the near future.

Nadia Cowden

Nadia has over 13 years of experience in personal insolvency. On a day to day basis, she deals with the progression of cases, the realisation of assets and corresponds directly with debtors and creditors. She gained her CPPI qualification with distinction in 2014.

When Nadia is not in the office, she loves to read, spend time with friends and regularly attends Crossfit and Weightlifting classes.

Katie Hocking

BA (Hons), Senior Administrator

Katie graduated from the University of Northampton with a BA (Hons) in History and has obtained her CPPI qualification in 2016. As one of our case officers, Katie deals with the day to day work involved in dealing with the administration of our bankruptcy cases, dealing directly with debtors and creditors alike.

In her spare time Katie is often found binge watching a TV series, reading books, baking cakes or making plans to visit friends in England and abroad.

Having an HND in Administration & Information Technology makes Clair perfect for her role! As one of our case officers, Clair deals with the day to day work involved with the administration of bankruptcy cases.

When she is not in the office Clair is a fitness enthusiast, reads crime novels and loves to spend time with her dog Dougal.

Before entering the insolvency profession, Louise worked in customer service in the retail and hospitality sectors. As one of our administrators, Louise handles the day to day processing of bankruptcy cases.

In her spare time Louise likes going to the gym, going on holiday and spending time with her family and friends.

Scott Maxwell

PPI Administrator

Scott has worked in the insolvency industry for over nine years, with experience gained across Scottish personal debt and insolvency solutions: self-managed, debt management plans, DAS, trust deeds and sequestration. For the last three years he has specialised in processing of PPI claims from insolvent estates. In a previous role Scott worked in quality assurance and has completed a Modern Apprenticeship in IT (NVQ Level 3: IT Professional).

In his spare time, Scott enjoys playing table tennis, reading comedy novels, playing retro games consoles and spending time with his family. He has a cat called Minnie.

Danielle is a member of our administration team. With a background in Occupational Health, Danielle has worked in administration for over 5 years. Danielle is primarily responsible for organising ISS training courses. She arranges all course bookings, making sure that everyone is in the right place at the right time with the course materials that they need. If you have any queries regarding any aspect of course administration speak to Danielle in the first instance.

In her spare time, Danielle likes to wine and dine with friends and spend some quality time with her family.

Michelle is a key member of our administration support team and she has a wealth of experience having been involved in general administration for over 25 years. Michelle is primarily responsible for monitoring debtor contributions.

Michelle also makes the best tea and coffee in the office. Often without being asked! Michelle has the uncanny ability to predict what people are looking for, before they ask for it.

When Michelle has any spare time she can be found in a restaurant enjoying a meal with friends and family or with her head in a book as she is an avid reader!

Jean has spent most of her working life in Payroll but she moved to ISS and into administration for a new challenge. She handles inbound calls and outgoing mail as well as other office duties, and is a dab hand at scanning.

Jean’s spare time involves doing Sudoku puzzles, watching quiz shows and sports such as the Six Nations, Wimbledon, the TT and The World’s Strongest Man! She also enjoys cooking and having friends and family over for meals.

Aileen has extensive experience in Customer Service and has fine-tuned her skills working in various industries ranging from the MOD to finance. She works within our Administration team, handling inbound calls and outgoing mail as well as other office duties.

During her time away from work, she enjoys watching a good box set and socialising with friends and family.

Ioana has over four years’ experience in administration, gained across various countries. Before that, she volunteered for two years as a Tourist Guide. As a member of our administration team, Ioana deals with data input, mail duties and general office administration.

In her spare time, Ioana likes curling up with her cat and a cup of tea, reading a good book or watching a movie or a series.

Rebekah graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a B.A. in Educational Studies. She worked in the Education Service until joining the ISS Team in 2017.

Outside of work Rebekah enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new places and being around animals.

Daniel Philliban

Modern Apprenticeship - Administration Assistant

We are delighted to support the Modern Apprenticeships Scheme and Daniel is working towards a Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration. This is Daniel’s first full time job, and he deals with the day to day general office administration.

When Daniel is not at work he likes to play football and tries to go to the gym as much as possible. He also likes the outdoors and has conquered Ben Nevis three times.

Kyle is also with us on the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme, and joined us straight from school. On a day to day basis he handles inbound calls as well as other office duties.

When not in the office Kyle likes to spend time socialising with friends. He lived in Spain when he was younger and found his time abroad to be a great experience.
